WELCOME

Welcome to the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association (“NVIGA”) website.  We hope that you find this site helpful in providing information regarding the purpose of NVIGA and how it protects Nevada policyholders in the event of a property and casualty insurance company insolvency.

WHO ARE WE?

There is hereby created a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity to be known as the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association.  All member insurers must be members of the association as a condition of their authority to transact insurance in this state.  The association shall perform its functions under a plan of operation established and approved pursuant to NRS 687A.070 and shall exercise its powers through a board of directors established under NRS 687A.050.  See NRS 687A.040

NVIGA is the Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association for the State of Nevada and is  a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity Founded in 1971 and governed by the provisions of the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association Act, Found in Chapter 687A, of the Nevada Revised Statutes.

WHAT DO WE DO?

When a property or casualty insurance company is determined to be insolvent by a court of competent jurisdiction and an Order of Liquidation is entered, the provisions of the Chapter 687A of the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) governing NVIGA are invoked. In such circumstances NVIGA assumes the handling of the insolvent insurers open, unpaid Nevada claim files.  When all provisions of NRS 687A have been satisfied, enabling a claim to qualify for protection, NVIGA participates in the case.

In order for NVIGA to process a claim, a Proof of Covered Claim form must be completed and timely returned to NVIGA.   To obtain a Proof of Covered Claim form please contact us at (702) 368-0607 or toll free at (800) 964-7882 or request a form via email.
