Welcome to the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association ("NIGA") website. We hope that you find this site helpful in providing information regarding the purpose of NIGA and how it protects Nevada policyholders in the event of a property and casualty insurance company insolvency.
There is hereby created a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity to be known as the NIGA is the Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association for the State of Nevada and is a nonprofit unincorporated legal entity Founded in 1971 and governed by the provisions of the Nevada Insurance Guaranty Association Act, Found in Chapter 687A, of the Nevada Revised Statutes. What do WE do? When a property or casualty insurance company is determined to be insolvent by a court of competent jurisdiction and an Order of Liquidation is entered, the provisions of the Chapter 687A of the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) governing NIGA are invoked. In such circumstances NIGA assumes the handling of the insolvent insurers open, unpaid
